
About Terri Maissen
Terri carries with her more than 20 years of experience working at advertising agencies and hotel management companies; working on-property at a Mobil five-star hotel, a premiere 36 hole golf club and an upscale shopping center.
As director of public relations at The Beverly Hills Hotel, Terri was part of the team that re-launched the hotel after it had been closed for two years for over a $100 million renovation. There she directed all public and community relations efforts for the hotel including all F&B outlets. She also brought all advertising media buying in-house for a significant cost savings.
At The Irvine Company, Terri began in the resort division and then transferred to the retail division. As director of sales & marketing for Pelican Hill and Oak Creek Golf Clubs she was responsible for overseeing the sales, marketing and public relations efforts. Overall rounds and revenue for both golf clubs increased by double digits while the golf industry experienced a 4% decrease in rounds nationwide.
After transferring from Pelican Hill to the retail division, Terri developed and implemented all tourism efforts for Irvine Spectrum and The Coastal Collection of shopping centers consisting of Fashion Island, Crystal Cove Promenade and Corona del Mar Plaza. She also directed the guest services department and introduced five-star hotel service standards to the shopping center’s guest services department. Terri was responsible for the complete event coordination of the annual corporate shopping spree where up to $1 million dollars was spent in two days of shopping at Fashion Island by one corporation. She was appointed chair of the Newport Beach Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Marketing Committee; a member of the Anaheim Orange County Visitors & Convention Bureau Tourism Advisory Committee; on the Board of the Orange County Tourism Council; The Irvine Company’s retail representative for the Oceanfront, Orange County Concierge Association, California Travel Industry Association and the Anaheim Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau.
While working with Olympus Hospitality Group, Terri re-launched the RockResorts brand overseeing all corporate communications for the company which included developing and launching new corporate, RockResorts, and Unique Hotels brand websites.
Terri began her career working in advertising agencies. Her first agency position was at The Martin Agency in Richmond, Virginia followed by the MacDougall Agency in New York City, then Schroffel & Associates in Los Angeles. She started as a media buyer and worked her way up to account supervisor overseeing the Hotel Bel Air, Los Angeles account. She also worked on the grand opening of the RHIGA Royal Hotel, NY. Her other agency clients have included hospitals, financial institutions and numerous Heart Magazine titles.
Terri holds a B.S. in Business Administration & Management from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. She graduated Cum Laude and was inducted into the Sigma Epsilon Honor Society.
